Progressive Party
Position on Bill at 2018
Session of Oregon Legislature:
HB 4077: Support, but Needs
Improvement
The Oregon
Progressive
Party supports HB 4077, which requires the statements of economic
interest filed by public officials and candidates for public office to
include certain information about sources of income for business in
which public official or candidate, or member of household of public
official or candidate, is officer or holds directorship if source of
income has legislative or administrative interest and 10 percent or
more of total gross annual income of business comes from that source of
income.
While this is an improvement over existing law, it limits the filing requirement to such businesses, if the public official or candidate is a director or officer of the business. Such filing should also be required if the public official or candidate is an employee of the business or a contractor of the business.
