Position on Bill at 2018
Session of Oregon Legislature:

    SB 1563:    Support

The Oregon Progressive Party supports SB 1563, which:

• Removes requirement that students who are not citizens or lawful permanent residents apply for
  official federal identification document to be eligible for exemption from paying nonresident tuition
  at public universities.
  
  
• Permits public universities, Oregon Health and Science University and community colleges to
  provide scholarships and other financial aid to students who are not citizens or lawful permanent
  residents and/or exempt them from paying nonresident tuition.

Unless Congress enacts a new law, there will be no federal program for these students to register with for official federal ID documents, since President Trump has ordered the termination of the DACA program as of March 5, 2018.
